Mental Health Reset

Mental Health Reset

We have all encountered moments in life that leave us feeling breathless, empty, and sometimes lost. It seems as if we are trapped in a place that we feel we can’t escape. These moments can stem from various experiences such as the loss of a loved one, unemployment, or financial hardship caused by unforeseen circumstances like a health issue.

However, life is a journey with many peaks and valleys, and we must learn to navigate through difficult times to reach the other side. It's natural to question ourselves, wondering how we will make it through or when this challenging phase will come to an end. While we may not have all the answers, there is someone who does: I turn to God. He has been my source of strength throughout the years, and GOD can be your source of strength too.

As we observe #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, it is crucial to prioritize our mental well-being, particularly during these challenging moments. Through prayer and faith, we must find the inner strength to initiate a mental reset, to reclaim our peace of mind and regain balance in our lives.

To help with a mental reset and promote overall mental wellness, here are some strategies to consider:

1. Practice mindfulness, meditation: Engaging in mindfulness exercises and meditation can help calm the mind, increase self-awareness, and reduce stress.

2. Engage in physical activity: Regular exercise has been shown to have a positive impact on mental health. Engaging in physical activities like walking, running, yoga, or any form of exercise you enjoy can release endorphins, reduce anxiety, and improve mood.

3. Disconnect from technology: Taking a break from constant digital stimulation can be beneficial. Set aside designated periods of time to disconnect from electronic devices, social media, and email. Use this time for activities like reading, spending time in nature, pursuing hobbies, or connecting with others.

4. Prioritize self-care: Engage in activities that promote self-care and relaxation. This can include taking warm baths, practicing self-compassion, getting enough sleep, enjoying hobbies, listening to music, reading books, or anything that brings you joy and helps you unwind.

5. Seek social support or professional help: Reach out to friends, family, or a support network when you need to talk or share your feelings. Surrounding yourself with positive and supportive individuals can provide emotional comfort and perspective. A therapist is also a good resource to aid in guidance and therapeutic support that is tailored to your needs.

6. Engage in activities that bring joy: Identify activities that make you feel happy, fulfilled, and engaged. It can be pursuing a hobby, spending time with loved ones, engaging in creative outlets, or volunteering. Prioritizing activities that bring you joy can help shift your focus and uplift your mood.

7. Practice gratitude: Cultivating a gratitude practice can shift your mindset towards positivity. Each day, reflect on things you are grateful for and write them down. This practice can help reframe your perspective and promote a sense of appreciation and contentment.

Everyone's journey towards a mental health reset is unique, and it is important to find strategies that work best for you. Be patient with yourself and prioritize self-care as an ongoing practice for your mind, body, and spirit. And remember, with GOD all things are possible Matthew 19:26, and in due time this season will pass.
